Download the Google Voice App

To begin your google voicemail setup, you need to download and install the Google Voice app. You can find it on the Google Play Store for Android devices or the Apple App Store for iOS devices. Once installed, open the app to proceed.

Open the App and Sign In

After downloading the app, open the Google Voice app on your device. If prompted, sign in to your Google account to access all features, including voicemail management.

Access the Settings Menu

Once you are signed in, locate the Menu icon, which appears as three horizontal lines at the top left of the app. Tap on this icon to open the menu options, and then select "Settings" from the list.

Manage Your Voicemail Greeting

In the Settings menu, scroll down to find the "Voicemail" section. Here, you can manage your voicemail greetings by tapping on "Voicemail greeting."

Record a New Greeting

To record a new greeting, tap on "Record a greeting." You will see a "Record" button; tap it to start recording your greeting. Speak clearly, as you can record up to 3 minutes long using the app. When you finish, tap "Stop" to end the recording.

Review and Save Your Greeting

After recording, you have several options for your greeting:

To listen to the recording, tap "Play."
To redo the recording, tap "Redo."
To save the recording, tap "Save."

Once saved, enter a name for your new greeting and tap "Save" again to confirm.

Select Your Active Greeting

If you want to change your greeting to one you have already recorded, return to the "Voicemail greeting" section. Next to the greeting you wish to use, tap "More" and select "Set as active" to make it your current greeting. Alternatively, if you prefer the default greeting, simply select that option in the same section.

Configure Voicemail Settings

Ensure that your voicemail settings are configured to your preference. This includes options for notifications and call screening, which can enhance your voicemail experience.

Test Your Voicemail

Finally, to ensure everything is set up correctly, test your voicemail by calling your Google Voice number. This will confirm that your google voicemail setup is complete and functioning as intended.
